Effortless Mindfulness and Yoga retreat:
Awakening our Authentic nature

Nøsen Yoga Fjellhotell, Valdres, Norway

October 14- 18, 2020

“The supreme liberation from attachment and reaction to things results when the true nature of Self is seen.”
--The Yoga Sutras, 1.16

Learning to access our most authentic and true nature is fundamental to the path of yoga and Buddhism. In this retreat-style immersion, we will re-discover our authentic self and practice how to be with this open-hearted awareness in our meditation, our yoga, and our everyday lives. Through a direct approach using Effortless Mindfulness, or non-dual awareness (NDA), we learn to let go and rest at ease in the essential goodness of our awakened nature.

This is the first time these teachings are being presented in Norway, inspired by the pioneering work of Loch Kelly, author of “The Way of Effortless Mindfulness.” Jonathan studied with Lock in Italy in 2019 and has himself been practicing in non-dual traditions for three decades.

Effortless Mindfulness and the practice of non-dual awareness (NDA) is a modern approach to ancient methods from the teachings of Buddhism, yoga, and Vedanta, for how to awaken from the ignorance that is the root cause of our suffering. These powerful yet simple methods are a direct form of teachings, as they represent the essential goal of yoga; to recognise and abide as our own true nature and be in ‘union’ with that.

This retreat is about finding the ease and freedom of practice, of being in presence and flow with life. We take the struggle out of doing, and rest back into being. We trust in the goodness and emotional intelligence that is inherent in our innermost compassionate heart. We discover how to unhook awareness from its usual ego-based identity and attachment to concepts by shifting out of the habitual thinking mind and into a felt sense of living from an open-hearted awareness.

This exploration will be held in the context of Mindful yoga and compassion-based practices to bring coherence with the heart and integrate awareness with the body. There will be sessions with gentle yoga that is accessible to all levels. The meditations with Effortless Mindfulness utilize ‘glimpsing’ practices and shorter meditations. Part of the retreat will be held in silence, to deepen the experience of self-reflection.

This retreat is an extension of the Mindful Yoga Education program that runs through Oslo Yoga, learning to integrate mindfulness and compassion with yoga. It is especially suited for those looking to expand their practice of Mindfulness and yoga as a path of insight or self-realization. This retreat is open to all, although it is recommended that you have some previous experience in meditation. No prior yoga experience is required. Limited to a small group. Teaching is in English.
